The Border Collie Club of Tasmania was founded in 1989 after a meeting of interested dedicated breeders and enthusiasts. The club started as a social club and in recent years has become affiliated as a specialist breed club. The club was formed to encourage and promote the purebred border collie. Owners and breeders are encouraged to work together against hereditary diseases and bring their dogs together at social events throughout the year.

The club now holds a Championship Show and Open Show each year. It also holds points score competitions for dog of the year, puppy of the year and obedience dog of the year.

Flyball Training & Herding Clinics are for all dogs not just Border Collies.
